[strawberries] :

your spring isn’t my spring
but we drink from the very same well
o baby can’t you tell
we are both clay made?

don’t go guessing at what you see
don’t go eating all my strawberries
don’t go pulling at all those seeds
that we planted in the fallow ground

your heart and my heart
both want the very same thing
but we can wait until Spring
or at least until the trees turn green

don’t go guessing at what you see
don’t go eating all my strawberries
don’t go pulling at my heart strings
until you’re ready

once there was a man
who sold things for pennies in his hat
and i put my heart in his hands
and i gave him my strawberry plant
and he took it and he planted it
and it grew into a field
and our love it is strong, it is true, it is real

don’t go guessing at what you see
don’t go eating all my strawberries
don’t go pulling at my heart strings

until you’re ready.
